Hi, I am William. I am studying Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto and have professional experience in the energy sector as a consultant and previously project development. Originally from Edmonton, I am a big Oilers fan (yes I am gutted that we cannot manage to win a cup), but since moving to Toronto, I've become a big Blue Jays fan as well. Outside of being a fan of baseball, hockey, and football, I play varsity lacrosse, snowboard, and enjoy an active lifestyle. Being an engineer, I have a few of "numbers-related" interests like poker, F1, and finance. Outside of the typical, I am a huge foodie and love trying as many news places as I can in Toronto. If you have any suggestions, I'm always looking for the next best place.

What's published here

I created this site not only to simply use the domain that I already owned, but also to publish any work or writing that I wanted to share. Sometimes what I post is related to topics I talk about with friends (Discussion), topics I get asekd about (Explainer), things I am interested in, or work that I produced to help myself learn. I found that I wanted to stay up to date/learn about things that impact the markets and energy, so I thought what better way to do that then to write about it. Anything I share here is subject to the disclaimer, it's important that I disclose that I am not an expert or registered advisor so nothing I share here should be taken as such.

Background

My experience mainly stems from the energy sector where I did work in renewables as a project developer and more recently consulting where I got more experience with energy markets, power system planning, financial analysis, and energy-related policy. With an industrial engineering background, I have a foundation in topics like data analysis, data modelling, artificial intelligence,statistic, and general problem solving. I've always found the ability to break complex topics down into something easily digestible is a sign of deeper understanding/learning which is what I hope to do by sharing my work.
